Nueva Segovia Local legend has is that Vigan got its name from a simple communication breakdown. A Spaniard walking along the Meztizo river apparently met a local and asked what is the city’s name. Not understanding what he was being asked, but seeing that the Spaniard seemed to be pointing to a tree, replied “bigaa apo” (a giant Taro plant that was common in the area) It is from the word “Bigaa” that Vigan is said to have derived its name

Traveler’s Guidelines and Other Information

· It is advisable and cost effective to purchase your air tickets well in advance to avail of special or early bird promo rates from the Airlines. In doing so, you’ll be able to find more travel deals targeted towards your specific need.

· Guests must be at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before flight departure as they close the gate 15 minutes before flight departure

· Leave copies of your itinerary, passport data page and visas with family or friends, so you can be contacted in case of an emergency.

· Passenger is required to pay Terminal Fee of PHP550 for International flight and PHP200 for Domestic Flight

It is also advisable to carry your medicines with the doctor’s prescription so that you don’t have to look for it in your luggage in case you need it.
